This wide-ranging and comprehensive RE quiz contains 40 questions. It was originally designed for high attaining year 5/6 classes as an end of term activity, but may also be suitable for lower KS3 groups. Questions are split into 8 rounds of 5 questions each. To add variety and promote engagement, there are a range of regular, true or false, multiple choice and picture questions. Answers are given at the end of each round. The rounds included are: 1.) Churches 2.) Jesus Christ 3.) Islam 4.) Buddhism 5.) Judaism 6.) Hinduism 7.) Religion around the World 8.) Final Round Lucky Dip A team answer sheet is included, provided in both Word and PDF.

In this engaging lesson, students develop their understanding of special places in Christianity, Islam and Judaism. It was originally taught as a part of an RE unit on ‘Special Places’ and so assumes some prior knowledge of churches and mosques (I have uploaded the prior lessons on this). The lesson introduces synagogues. In this lesson, students learn about the key features of Anglican churches. Some of the features covered include: the font, the altar, the pulpit, the lecturn, the nave, the crucifix and stained glass windows. Students learn about the key purpose of the features, and where they can be found in the church. Students also begin to comprehend what the features symbolise. This detailed and visually-appealing resource offers a complete reference point for students learning about/ revising their understanding of Sikhism. It contains comprehensive sections under the following headings: -Sikhism Overview; -Sikh Beliefs; -Sikhism Timeline; -Key Vocabulary; -Top Ten Facts; -Answers to the Important Questions. This fun and original collective worship session aims to assist children in understanding the value of being compassionate, through: Understanding what compassion is, and recognising why it is important; Understanding what the bible teaches us about compassion, and learning about how Jesus was compassionate; Looking at examples of behaviour that is compassionate and not compassionate (including through role play activities and videos), and noting its effect on people in need; Learning strategies to demonstrate compassion in their own lives. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. This purposeful and original collective worship session aims to introduce children to the concept of spirituality, through: -Defining what spirituality is and what it means to each of us; -Understanding what our spirituality is made up of and what inspires our sense of spirituality; -Demonstrating what spirituality may look and feel like for different people; -Considering how different stimulus affects each of us spiritually; -Looking at their own lives and their school lives and considering opportunities for spiritual growth; -Ending with reflection, a prayer and a well-linked hymn. The worship draws on ideas from leaders in the field of developing primary spirituality, including David Holmes and Dr Rebecca Nye. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. Due to the nature of spirituality, there are some aspects of the discussion that are individual to the speaker/ school but if these do not fit your setting they can be easily edited as you see fit - the structure itself is clear. It is a comprehensive (28 slides in total) there is enough material for a 30-40 minute session, two 20-minute sessions, or for you to pick and choose the material that you would like to use for your own session.
